Patient Grievances and Arbitration
If a complaint is filed with the Society against a physician who is a member of SLMMS, a Peer Review panel will hear and attempt to resolve the complaint to the mutual satisfaction of both parties. This local avenue provides a positive alternative to resolving disputes through the Missouri Board of Healing Arts. Such complaints can be sent to the attention of :

Third Party Payer Advocacy (for SLMMS members)
The Society advocates for its member-physicians in third-party payer issues with such entities as managed care providers, Medicare and others. Recent issues in which the Society has represented physicians include the rollback pf physicians’ liability limits by hospitals and a proposed performance-based managed-care program. Member physicians who need assistance in this regard can contact:

Ethics Issues (Physician to Physician)
In rare situations where a physician wishes to voice an ethics concern over a matter involving another SLMMS member-physician, SLMMS is structured to hear such matters. Member-physicians wishing to voice such a concern should contact:
