Mercy plans $300 million upgrade for Jefferson Hospital

Mercy plans to invest more than $300 million in its latest acquisition: Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Crystal City.

The health care system plans to spend $110 million on a new patient tower at the renamed Mercy Hospital Jefferson that will transition the now 251-bed facility to all private rooms within five years. Mercy also plans to spend $15 million for technology upgrades and $40 million for physician recruitment. The largest tab to date — $140 million — will be used to set up the Jefferson Memorial Community Foundation to fund health care and social needs in the surrounding area.  More …
