SLMMS Physician Wellness Conference Presentations

Area physicians and medical students attended the SLMMS Physician Wellness Conference, held April 25 at the Emerson Auditorium at St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield. They were treated to an outstanding keynote presentation, “Building Resilience and Coping with Stress in Medical Practice,” by Stuart Slavin, M.D., M.Ed., of Saint Louis University School of Medicine.

The half-day program began with “Asset Protection Planning for Missouri Residents and the New Qualified Spousal Trust,” by Jim Blase, JD, CPA, LLM, of Blase and Associates.

A third lecture, “MPHP: We Know More Than Substance Abuse,” by Jeremy Duke, MA, LPC, with the Missouri Physicians Health Program, and Sherry McNamara, LPC, CRC, of the De Novo program, was also presented.

Designed to help physicians explore topics related to both physical and financial well-being, the program was chaired by SLMMS Councilor Robert A. Brennan, Jr., M.D. Jay Meyer, M.D., served as the program moderator, and the welcome was given by SLMMS President Michael Stadnyk, M.D. Participants received up to three CME credits, and also enjoyed a preview of medical innovation solutions by the IDEA Labs executive team from Washington University in St. Louis.
