IDEA Labs Demo Day is Monday, April 25

For the second consecutive year, the St. Louis Metropolitan Medical Society is a proud supporter and bronze level sponsor of IDEA Labs Demo Day 2016 at Washington University in St. Louis. All SLMMS members are invited to participate on Monday, April 25, 2016 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the CIC @ 4240, 4240 Duncan Avenue, St. Louis.

IDEA Labs is a network of medical bioengineering, design, and entrepreneurship incubators, founded at Washington University in 2013. Multidisciplinary teams of medical, engineering, and business students with mentorship from faculty, healthcare professionals, and the business community tackle unmet needs in healthcare delivery and clinical medicine.

Demo Day is IDEA Labs’ flagship event, representing the culmination of the teams’ yearlong progress through the program. Teams showcase their innovations to entrepreneurs, clinicians and investors via poster and pitch competitions. Financial prizes help jumpstart their transitions into full-fledged companies.

The Demo Day keynote speaker will be Robert Langer, the David H. Koch Institute Professor at MIT. Langer’s research laboratory at MIT is the largest biomedical engineering lab in the world, maintaining over $10 million in annual grants and over 100 researchers. He has over 1,080 patents worldwide, licensed or sublicensed to over 300 pharmaceutical, chemical, biotechnology and medical device companies.

6:00 to 7:30 p.m. – Public demos from all IDEA Labs companies, food and drink
7:30 p.m. – Introduction talk about IDEA Labs by Stephen Linderman, President
7:40 p.m. – Finalist podium presentations
8:20 p.m. – Keynote address by Professor Robert Langer, MIT
8:45 p.m. – Awards and concluding remarks
