Medical Society elects 2013 officers and councilors

David L. Pohl, M.D., F.A.C.R., Elected 2013 President Of St. Louis Metropolitan Medical Society

David L. Pohl, M.D., F.A.C.R., a radiologist, has been elected 2013 president of the St. Louis Metropolitan Medical Society, the association representing physicians in the St. Louis area. Dr. Pohl is in private practice with Radiologic Imaging Consultants, LLC, and is director of radiology at SSM St. Joseph Hospital West.

Other 2013 officers elected include Joseph A. Craft III, M.D., as president-elect; Michael J. Stadnyk, M.D., as vice president; Gordon M. Goldman, M.D., as secretary; and Vikram A. Rao, M.D., as treasurer.

Elected to three-year terms as Councilors are:  Gregory E. Baker, M.D.; David F. Butler, M.D.; Karen F. Goodhope, M.D.; Jason K. Skyles, M.D.; and Alan P.K. Wild, M.D.

A graduate of Washington University School of Medicine, Dr. Pohl is certified by the American Board of Radiology and is a Fellow of the American College of Radiology. He also holds a master’s degree from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, and obtained his undergraduate degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. He served his internship and residency at Saint Louis University Hospitals. He currently is on staff at SSM St. Joseph Hospital West and SSM St. Joseph Health Center.    
Active in organized medicine, Dr. Pohl served as a St. Louis Metropolitan Medical Society councilor from 2008 to 2011, as treasurer in 2011 and as president-elect in 2012. He also is a board member of the Missouri Radiological Society, and is a member of the Greater St. Louis Society of Radiologists, the American Medical Association, the Missouri State Medical Association, the American Roentgen Ray Society and the Radiological Society of North America.

Founded in 1836, the St. Louis Metropolitan Medical Society represents medical and osteopathic physicians in St. Louis city and county, and works closely with the Missouri State Medical Association and the American Medical Association in promoting the principles of medical ethics and protecting the patient-physician relationship.
